Marseille Plans to Reacquire Ismaël Bennacer from Milan

Sunday 17-08-2025
According to "Football Italy," French club Marseille is studying the possibility of re-signing AC Milan midfielder, Algerian Ismaël Bennacer, just a few months after the end of his loan period and the refusal to activate the permanent purchase option at that time.

The site reported that coach Roberto De Zerbi has included Bennacer among his options to strengthen the midfield during the final weeks of the summer transfer window, and Marseille hopes to acquire the player on loan, while Milan prefers to sell him permanently to support its budget for new signings.

Bennacer played 12 matches in Ligue 1 during his loan period at Marseille in the second half of last season, contributing to the team's second-place finish that qualified them for the Champions League, despite not playing a major role.

Marseille's interest comes after they lost in the opening round of Ligue 1 against Rennes, prompting the coaching staff to look for experienced and consistent players, which De Zerbi sees in Bennacer.
