Liverpool Coach Talks About Victory and Match Events
Saturday 16-08-2025
After the victory over Bournemouth 4-2 in the first round of the Premier League at Anfield, Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in press statements.

The coach said in his remarks: "We started the second half excellently while leading 2-0, but we were facing a team that never gives up. We must give them their due, but they also faced a team with high physical fitness."

Regarding Federico Chiesa's goal, he said: "It was a wonderful goal. We brought him in during the final minutes because we needed a goal, and he managed to score at such a crucial moment, which is special. The best part is that it came after significant support from the fans, so it was great to give them something special in return with a fantastic goal."

He added about the referee's performance: "The referee today let the game flow as it was, and it was a fast-paced and high-tempo encounter. Both teams tried to attack and transition quickly without wasting time."

On the incident where Antoine Semenyo faced racial abuse from a fan, Slot said: "Clearly, we do not want such things in football, and we certainly do not want them at Anfield. Unfortunately, this is part of the story, while the discussion should have been about the wonderful tribute to Diogo Jota. What happened is completely unacceptable, especially in a place like Anfield."
