Liverpool FC has reached a formal agreement with Italian club Parma to sign young defender Giovanni Leoni during the ongoing summer transfer window, to strengthen the defense at the request of coach Arne Slot.

The 18-year-old defender caught the attention of several clubs in Serie A after his impressive performances with Parma, before Liverpool finalized the deal in support of their preparations for the new season.

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on his official account on the platform 'X' today, Thursday, that Leoni will arrive in Liverpool the same day, accompanied by his agent, to undergo medical examinations ahead of signing his contract with the Reds.

According to Romano, the details of the deal, valued at around £35 million, have been fully agreed upon at 100%.

It is expected that Leoni's deal will not be the last in Liverpool's efforts to bolster their defense, as the club is also looking to sign Marc Guéhi, a defender from Crystal Palace, taking advantage of the fact that he has only one year left on his contract.
