In a step described as the most prominent in the Iraqi transfer market this summer, Al-Shorta Club announced the completion of six strong signings all at once, sending a clear message to its fans and competitors that it is coming to compete for all titles in the 2025-2026 football season.

The announcement came through a video clip published on the club's official accounts, showcasing the new players one by one, amid a wide interaction from the "Qithara" fans who are eager to see their team in its new version on the pitch.

The first signing was the right-back Mustafa Saadoun, coming from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. He is a player known for his defensive discipline and ability to support the attack from the flanks. Saadoun's transfer is a qualitative addition to the back line, especially given Al-Shorta's need to strengthen the right flank with a player who has experience in major matches and knows well the nature of competition in the Iraqi Premier League.

The second signing featured Brazilian defender Lucas Moses, coming from Duhok Club, who spent three successful seasons with the Mountain Eagles. Moses is one of the names that left a clear mark in the Iraqi league, as he directly contributed to Duhok winning the Iraq Cup and the Gulf Champions League, and was one of the defensive pillars that provided the club with technical stability.

The third signing included the acquisition of striker Hussein Jabbar, transferred from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, who is known for his ability to score, despite missing the entire last season due to injury. Al-Shorta's management is betting on a strong return for Jabbar, who has an impressive record of domestic championships with his previous team, along with his fighting spirit on the field.

Moroccan defender Mehdi Al-Sahabi was the fourth signing, coming from Olympique Safi Club in Morocco, after previously representing Wydad Athletic and Shabab Al-Fath in Morocco. Al-Sahabi, 27 years old, combines physical strength and good positioning, in addition to experience playing in strong African competitions, which could provide Al-Shorta with an additional dimension in terms of defensive performance and tactical organization.

The fifth signing was the addition of striker Sharif Abdul-Kadhim from Al-Talaba Club, a player with extensive experience in Iraqi football, having previously represented Al-Talaba, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, and Al-Hudood, in addition to being called up to the national team earlier.

The sixth and final signing in this batch was the acquisition of Senegalese midfielder Dominic Mendy, coming from Al-Najaf Club, who was previously classified as the best foreign player in the Iraqi league two seasons ago, thanks to his high passing skills and control of the pace of play, in addition to his ability to regain possession and lead the midfield in major matches.

With these signings, Al-Shorta Club shows that it is following a clear plan aimed at building a complete team capable of competing locally and continentally. It has not only focused on strengthening the attack but has also worked to bolster almost all positions, from defense to midfield and attack. The management confirmed that the announcement of the last signing will be soon, to complete the team list that will enter the new season at the highest levels of readiness.
