Napoli Competes with Inter for the Signing of Lookman Amid Financial Disputes with Atalanta
Reports have revealed that Napoli has entered the race to sign Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman from Atalanta during the current summer transfer window, amidst stalled negotiations between Inter Milan to finalize the deal.
According to the Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport", Napoli has previously shown interest in signing Lookman and may take serious steps to secure the transfer if Inter decides to back out of the ongoing negotiations with Atalanta.
Lookman, who is 27 years old, is a primary target for Inter to strengthen their attacking line, but negotiations between the two parties have hit a snag over the financial compensation, as Atalanta has set a price of 45 million euros, plus 5 million in variables.
Reports have indicated that the player has missed recent training sessions with his team and has collected his belongings from the locker room, a move some have interpreted as pressure on Atalanta's management to allow him to leave.
Despite this, Luca Percassi, the CEO of Atalanta, confirmed that there is a prior official agreement with Lookman regarding the possibility of his departure this summer, but it includes a clause preventing him from transferring to any other club within Italy.
It is worth mentioning that Lookman joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Leipzig and has succeeded in scoring 52 goals in 118 matches across all competitions while wearing the Italian team's jersey.
