German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen commented on the recent crisis that erupted between him and the Catalan club after he refused to sign the consent form to send his injury report to the Spanish league.

The injury report is essential for allowing Barcelona to replace the injured goalkeeper with a new player, given the financial fair play restrictions, but Ter Stegen's refusal halted this step, escalating the situation.

The club announced on Thursday that it had temporarily stripped Ter Stegen of the captaincy as a disciplinary measure until the matter is resolved definitively.

In his first official comment, Ter Stegen said in a statement published on Friday: "The past few months have been difficult for me, both physically and personally. My priority has always been to return to the pitch and help the team."

He added: "I made the decision to undergo surgery in consultation with specialized doctors and with the club's approval, to protect my long-term professional career."

He continued: "There has been a lot of unfounded speculation, and I want to confirm that all contracts and renewals were completed before I underwent surgery. It is unfair to say that my injury was exploited to sign other players."

He concluded: "I have always acted with professionalism and respect. I love Barcelona deeply, as well as this city and its fans. My commitment to the club is absolute."

He confirmed: "I am ready to cooperate with the club's management to resolve this situation constructively."

He ended his remarks by saying: "A lot may change, but one thing will never change: I love Barcelona's supporters."
