Wednesday 06-08-2025
The English club Sunderland has announced the signing of young striker Mark Guiu from Chelsea, in a loan deal that extends until the end of the 2025-2026 season, to strengthen the squad aiming for promotion to the Premier League.

Mark, who is 19 years old, joined Sunderland after participating in Chelsea's recent victory in the FIFA Club World Cup, and he had played 16 matches with the first team under the management of Enzo Maresca last season, scoring 6 goals, all of which came in the UEFA Europa Conference League that the Blues won.

In his first statements after joining, Guiu said: "I feel great and I'm very excited for the new season. I consider myself a strong striker who can make a difference with and without the ball, and I am proud to be a natural scorer. This is a great opportunity for me to help myself and the team reach what it deserves."

Mark was born in Catalonia and graduated from the famous La Masia academy of Barcelona, where he made his first-team debut in October 2023 against Athletic Bilbao, scoring a goal just 23 seconds into the match to become the fastest and youngest player to score on his debut in the history of Barcelona in La Liga.

This deal is one of Sunderland's most significant moves this summer, as the club seeks to strengthen its squad with talented young players to compete vigorously after promotion to the Premier League.
