Athletic Bilbao Fined for Repeated Insults Against Barcelona
Athletic Bilbao announced that it has received a financial fine of 9,000 euros from the disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation, due to repeated chants that included insults against FC Barcelona during the last match of the Spanish league at San Mamés Stadium.
The Appeals Committee and the Spanish Sports Court confirmed that these chants, such as the phrase "Puta Barca," are expressions of hatred that incite violence and exceed the limits of normal sports competition.
Athletic Bilbao clarified that the fine comes after previous sanctions from the UEFA disciplinary committee, emphasizing the need to respect fundamental principles in cheering during the 2025/2026 season and to avoid actions that harm the club's image or cause financial damage.
It is noted that the last encounter between Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona at San Mamés Stadium was on May 25, 2025, where Barcelona won 3-0.
