Monday 04-08-2025
Defender Ahmed Yahya officially announced the end of his journey with Al-Shorta Club, after a career that spanned more than three seasons during which he achieved championships and successes with the team. He represented the team since joining on July 5, 2022, and was one of the key players in the backline and one of the most consistent names in the starting lineup.

Yahya said in an emotional farewell message he posted on his personal account:

"I announce with great sadness my departure from this great entity, Al-Shorta Club, the club with which I achieved titles and my childhood dream. You were everything to me, the support and the backbone. I hope I succeeded in giving what I have to Al-Shorta Club, which will remain in my heart forever. I apologize for not continuing the journey due to a compelling family circumstance. Thank you to the players and the coaching staff."

Despite the sudden circumstances of his departure, Yahya was keen to express his appreciation to everyone he worked with at Al-Shorta, affirming that his memories with the club will remain etched in his heart.

Ahmed Yahya had directly contributed to Al-Shorta's winning of multiple Iraqi Premier League titles, as well as winning the Iraq Cup and the Iraqi Super Cup, making him one of the team's defensive pillars and one of the most influential players in recent times.

Yahya, who has progressed through several previous clubs, reached the peak of his football maturity wearing Al-Shorta's jersey, and succeeded in earning the trust of both the fans and the management alike, with his consistent performance and commitment both on and off the field.

His departure was a relative shock to the team's fans who had grown accustomed to his presence in the backline, but everyone understands his family motives, with wishes for him to succeed in his next step, which may be with Al-Minaa Club as previous sources indicated.
