The Portuguese club Benfica has entered the race to sign Ibrahim Diaz, the Moroccan star and Real Madrid player, during the current summer transfer window.

In light of expected difficulties given the royal club's desire and coach Xabi Alonso's intention to keep the player within the team.

CNN Portugal reported that Benfica has shown great interest in acquiring Diaz due to his high technical and physical abilities, which the team's officials see as essential to strengthen the squad in preparation for the upcoming season.

In the same context, the Spanish website Estadio Deportivo revealed that Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, the current manager of Turkish club Fenerbahce, has prioritized Diaz in the summer transfer market of 2025, as part of his efforts to bring the Turkish club back to continental prominence.

Despite the multiple offers, Spanish press reports indicate that Ibrahim Diaz is not keen on leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, especially after reaching a preliminary agreement with Real Madrid's management to extend his contract, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

Diaz's current contract with Real Madrid runs until June 2027, and his market value is estimated at around 40 million euros according to Transfermarkt, reflecting the level of competition for his services.

The same source confirmed that Benfica tried to gauge Real Madrid's interest in selling the player, but the response was clear that finalizing the deal would be difficult, given both the player's and the club's commitment to continue their journey within the royal club's walls.
