Raphinha Continues to Shine and Approaches a New Role with Barcelona
Monday 04-08-2025
The Brazilian winger Raphinha has proven to be one of the key pillars in coach Hans Flick's lineup, having delivered impressive performances last season, contributing to 56 goals by scoring 34 and assisting 22 others, benefiting from the tactical changes implemented by the German coach.

Despite the stalled deal for signing Nico Williams, who was expected to compete with Raphinha for the left-wing position, Flick continued to rely on the Brazilian star during Barcelona's Asian tour, where he participated in matches against Vissel Kobe and Seoul, appearing in a role closer to that of a playmaker, a position he occupied in some matches last season.

The previous plan involved using Nico and Lamine Yamal on the flanks, with Raphinha moved to a more central role on the pitch, which had been tested previously, especially to take advantage of the runs of left-back Alejandro Balde.

With the arrival of Marcus Rashford, the chances of implementing this tactical shift increase, given Raphinha's ability to occupy multiple attacking positions; however, Raphinha's advancement toward the center could lead to significant congestion, threatening the opportunities for players like Dani Olmo and Ferran Lopez to participate.

The final decision remains in the hands of Hans Flick, who will balance his attacking elements to achieve the best combination for the new season.
