Alonso Defines Penalty Taker at Real Madrid
Monday 04-08-2025
The new coach of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso, is facing a new challenge regarding the execution of penalties, which is the same issue he suffered from during his tenure at Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that Leverkusen missed 3 out of 7 penalties under Alonso's leadership last season, while Real Madrid failed to convert 7 out of 19 penalties received in the previous season.

The source added that everything points to French star Kylian Mbappe being the primary penalty taker in the new season.

The newspaper concluded that Mbappe has scored 50 penalties and missed 13 throughout his career, which means his success rate in penalties is 79.3%.
