The Greek club Panathinaikos announced yesterday, Monday, that it has officially signed Moroccan international Anas Zarouri on loan for one season, coming from French club Lens, with an option to buy at the end of the season, making him the sixth summer signing for the team.

Zarouri is 24 years old, born in the Belgian city of Mechelen to a Moroccan immigrant family, and began his football career within the academy of his hometown club, before moving to the academy of former French star Jean-Marc Guillou, and then to Zulte Waregem at the age of 14.

Despite his attempts to establish himself in the first team, his real breakthrough came with Lommel, owned by the City Football Group linked to Manchester City, at the age of nineteen.

In January 2021, Zarouri moved to Charleroi in Belgium, where he had his first experience in the first division, before catching the attention and moving to Burnley in England, where he excelled during the 2022-2023 season in the Championship, contributing to the team's promotion to the Premier League by scoring 7 goals and providing 6 assists in 34 matches.

By joining Panathinaikos, Zarouri aims to regain his brilliance and compete strongly for his place in the Moroccan national team, especially with the upcoming continental challenges.
