The French club Lance announced its signing of Saudi star Saud Abdulhamid, coming from Italian club Roma, on loan for one season with an option to buy, making him the first Saudi player in history to join the French league.

The club stated: "The 26-year-old right-back, who has 38 international matches with the Saudi national team, began his career with Al-Ittihad club in Jeddah, where he progressed through its youth categories until he reached the first team in December 2018, contributing to the team's first victory after a difficult start to the season."

It added: "During his career, Abdulhamid excelled locally and continentally, as he participated in the AFC Champions League with Al-Ittihad, before moving to Al-Hilal in the middle of the 2021-2022 season, where he won the Saudi league title, and participated in the AFC Champions League final and the FIFA Club World Cup final against Real Madrid, making his presence felt with an assist in the match."

It continued: "In the 2023-2024 season, Saud contributed to achieving a historic season with Al-Hilal without any defeats in the league, as he participated in 29 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists, and was crowned with the domestic double (league + King’s Cup)."

It concluded: "In 2024, Saud had a professional experience in Europe through Roma, where he participated in the Europa League and scored his first goal against Braga. Despite the limited minutes (only 380 minutes), he received praise from the coaching staff led by Claudio Ranieri for his professionalism and discipline."
