Inter Milan Targets Nkunku After Lukaku Deal Stumbles

Saturday 02-08-2025
Italian media reports have indicated that Inter Milan has begun to move to sign Christopher Nkunku, the Chelsea striker, after negotiations with Atalanta for the Nigerian Ademola Lookman stumbled during the current summer transfer window.

According to the website "Calcio Mercato", Nkunku has become the main alternative to Lookman in Inter's plans, and the club's management has started preliminary talks with those close to the French player in recent hours.

The report noted that Chelsea is open to selling Nkunku this summer, but his annual salary of €6.5 million could pose a barrier to completing the deal, given the financial constraints imposed on Inter.

Lookman had agreed to an offer from Inter Milan that included an annual salary of €4.5 million; however, Atalanta rejected the last offer made by the Italian club, which was valued at €45 million plus some bonuses, insisting on receiving €50 million to part with the player.
