French media reports have revealed that Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, the right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, is facing a threat of imprisonment following an official request from the public prosecutor's office in Nanterre to file a rape charge against him.

According to the newspaper "Le Parisien", a final indictment was signed on August 1st, which includes a request to refer Hakimi to the regional criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine on charges of raping a young girl at his home near Paris on February 25, 2023.

The newspaper clarified that the final decision regarding the player's referral to trial now lies with the investigating judge, who will decide whether to confirm or dismiss the charges against him.

If the charge is proven, the PSG star could face a prison sentence of up to 15 years. During the investigation period, Hakimi denied the allegations against him, asserting that he was the victim of an extortion attempt, which the plaintiff denied.

Hakimi stated last January: "When you succeed, you become an easy target for some. They wanted to extort me, which is why we filed a complaint, and things are going well; the judiciary has handled the matter as required."
