Barcelona Dismisses Signing Dumfries
The chances of Dutch player Denzel Dumfries, right-back of Inter Milan, joining Barcelona during the current summer transfer window have faded after the release clause in his contract, amounting to 25 million euros, expired on Friday, August 1, 2025, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo".
Now, any club wishing to sign Dumfries must enter into direct negotiations with Inter Milan and pay a higher amount, which is not an option Barcelona is considering at the moment.
The newspaper confirmed that coach Hans Flick believes the right-back position is well covered, while club president Joan Laporta previously stated that Barcelona does not plan to make new signings after finalizing deals for Juan Garcia, Rony Bardghji, and the loan of Marcus Rashford.
It is worth mentioning that Dumfries, who is contracted with Inter until 2028, was open to experiencing a new adventure this summer, appointing Jorge Mendes as his agent for this purpose, but the failure to activate his release clause closed the door on his transfer to Barcelona.
