The Spanish club Girona announced in an official statement today, Wednesday, that it has reached an agreement with Atlético Madrid to acquire French player Thomas Lemar on loan until the end of the 2025-2026 season.

Lemar was born in November 1995 in Baie-Mahault in Guadeloupe and has extensive experience in European competitions, along with his international appearances for the French national team, where he was part of the squad that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Lemar began his career at the academy of the French club Caen and made his first appearance in Ligue 1 in 2013, before moving to Monaco, where he shone and contributed to winning the Ligue 1 title in the 2016-2017 season.

In the summer of 2018, he joined Atlético Madrid, where he participated in over 170 matches and was one of the key players in winning the La Liga title in the 2020-2021 season, in addition to competing in the Champions League and the Europa League.

Lemar is considered a versatile player, capable of playing as a left winger, playmaker, or attacking midfielder. He is known for his high technical skills, excellent vision of the field, along with his decisive passes and ability to make a difference in tight spaces. He is also recognized for his great effort off the ball and high pressing on the opponent.

Thus, Girona strengthens its squad with a player who possesses quality and experience, as part of its quest to continue shining in La Liga and competing at the highest levels.
