French Race Heats Up to Snatch Saud Abdul Hamid from Roma
Wednesday 30-07-2025
Saudi international Saud Abdul Hamid is nearing a departure from Italian club Roma after a season that did not meet expectations, as he has become a prominent target for several French league clubs during the current transfer window.

According to "Foot Mercato", Roma and Toulouse have reached a verbal agreement regarding Abdul Hamid's loan for one season, which includes a purchase option, and the player has initially agreed to the offer in a bid to return to regular participation.

However, Saud Abdul Hamid's transfer is still contingent on the arrival of Brazilian Wesley to Roma, as his signing is expected to officially pave the way for the Saudi player's loan move.

In a surprising turn, French club Lens has entered the negotiations strongly, amid discussions of good relations between the management teams of both clubs that may contribute to expediting the player's transfer.

Although Toulouse seems to be the frontrunner in negotiations, the uncertainty surrounding the Brazilian alternative's fate and delays in finalizing procedures could open the door for Lens to turn the tables and secure Saud Abdul Hamid's signature in their favor.

It is worth noting that Abdul Hamid joined Roma in the summer of 2024 from Al Hilal for 2.5 million euros, participating in only 8 matches in which he scored one goal and assisted another, before the club decided to loan him out following a change in the defensive strategy under coach Gasperini.
