Manchester City Football Club announced in an official statement today, Tuesday, that it has signed Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford during the current summer transfer window.

The club stated: "Manchester City is pleased to officially announce the signing of English goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley."

It added: "The 22-year-old goalkeeper has signed a contract that extends for five years until June 2030, marking an emotional return to the Etihad Stadium after spending nearly eight years in the City academy before moving to Burnley in 2023."

James said: "Returning to City is a special and significant moment for me and my family. I have always dreamed of coming back to Manchester City one day; this is the place I consider home – a unique club with amazing people that makes it very special."

He added: "I am very excited and proud to have the opportunity to work under Pep and with a group of world-class players. I am still young and ambitious, looking forward to learning and developing, and there is no better place than Manchester City to achieve this goal."

He concluded: "I am also looking forward to playing my first match in front of the amazing City fans, and I will do everything I can to help this great club achieve more success."
