Manchester United is intensifying its efforts to sign a new striker before the start of the 2025/2026 football season, with Ollie Watkins, the star of Aston Villa, becoming the club's top choice, according to media reports.

Despite bolstering the team's attack by signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo during the current summer transfer window, Manchester United is still looking to add a striker with significant experience in the Premier League to support coach Ruben Amorim's project.

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa is demanding £60 million to part with Watkins, a figure that Manchester United considers high, as they hope to reach an agreement in the range of £40 to £45 million.

Watkins, 29 years old, participated in 54 matches with Aston Villa last season across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists.
