Donnarumma Ignites Saudi-English Rivalry as Departure from Paris Approaches
Monday 28-07-2025
The relationship between Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Paris Saint-Germain is heading towards separation, as negotiations to renew his contract, which ends in the summer of 2026, have stalled, prompting the club's management to consider selling him this summer.

According to the French newspaper "L'Équipe", Paris has begun concrete steps to sign young goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille for 40 million euros, in a precautionary move in anticipation of Donnarumma's departure.

Meanwhile, the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" revealed that Saudi clubs supported by the Public Investment Fund, led by Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, have started preparing attractive financial offers to lure the Italian goalkeeper.

Al-Ittihad is looking to strengthen the goalkeeper position following injuries to goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic, while Al-Nassr is considering a more stable goalkeeper for the new season amidst fluctuations in their current goalkeeper's performance.

On the English front, Manchester United is closely monitoring the situation due to Andre Onana's declining performance, while Manchester City includes Donnarumma among its alternative options in case Ederson departs, amid reports that Chelsea is also entering the negotiations.
