Naif Akrd on the Radar of Olympique Marseille
Thursday 24-07-2025
Moroccan international Naif Akrd, a defender for West Ham United, continues to seek an exit from the Premier League following the end of his successful loan period with Real Sociedad in Spain.

According to 'Football365', Olympique Marseille has placed the player among its priorities in the current summer transfer market, based on a request from Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi to strengthen the defense in preparation for upcoming European competitions.

In this context, Akrd's name was previously linked with a move to AS Roma, where the newspaper 'Football Italia' revealed that the club made an offer to loan him with an option to buy at the end of the season. However, West Ham's management rejected the offer and insists on releasing the player in a permanent transfer.

Several Gulf clubs are also trying to acquire the Moroccan defender, but the player prefers to continue his career in Europe to maintain his technical level and ensure his presence with the Moroccan national team in upcoming continental competitions, alongside his ambition to participate in the 2026 World Cup.

Akrd had played 36 matches last season with Real Sociedad, delivering strong performances as a key player, but the Spanish club did not activate the purchase option after the end of the loan period.

The player's future is expected to be determined in the coming weeks, as he weighs between the dream of experiencing AS Roma and the desire of Olympique Marseille, while West Ham's management continues to search for a suitable financial offer to compensate them in the transfer market.
