English club Manchester City is looking to extend the contract of its Spanish midfielder Rodri, amid reports confirming that Real Madrid is entering the race to sign him in the upcoming period.

Spanish media reported that Real Madrid has made Rodri one of its priorities to strengthen the midfield, with the possibility of moving to acquire him either this summer or at the end of next season, especially since his current contract with City runs until 2027.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Manchester City plans to renew Rodri's contract until 2030, as it is keen to retain his services and firmly rejects the idea of selling him, despite reports acknowledging that the player is currently the most suitable option to reinforce the midfield of the Merengues.

It is worth mentioning that Rodri, who is 29 years old, joined Manchester City in the summer of 2019 from Atletico Madrid, and since then he has participated in 265 matches with the Sky Blues, scoring 26 goals and providing 32 assists.
