Sky Sports reported that French striker Hugo Ekitike is close to finalizing his transfer to Liverpool, with plans to join the team's squad on their preparatory tour in Asia ahead of the new season.

According to the report, the 23-year-old player began his medical examinations in London yesterday and is expected to complete them today, coinciding with the finalization of the agreement on his personal terms with the Reds.

Liverpool has reached an agreement with German club Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Ekitike for £79 million, which includes £69 million as a fixed fee plus £10 million in performance-related bonuses.

Ekitike is expected to be one of the key attacking reinforcements for the Reds this summer, as part of the club's plan to rejuvenate the squad and compete strongly across all competitions next season, especially after negotiations to sign Newcastle's Isak faltered.
