Hussein Ali Sparks Controversy Again After Refusing to Return to Al-Zawraa
Tuesday 22-07-2025
The star of Al-Shorta Club, Hussein Ali, has returned to the forefront of controversy once again, after he rejected an official offer from his former club Al-Zawraa to return to its ranks during the current summer transfer market, preferring to continue with Al-Shorta. This decision sparked a wave of anger among the Al-Nawras fans, who considered the player "unwelcome" for years.

Hussein Ali, the 28-year-old left winger, had distinguished himself at Al-Zawraa over the past years, winning several championships with them before embarking on a professional experience with Qatar SC, then returning to the Iraqi league through Al-Shorta.

Prior to joining Al-Shorta, the management of Al-Zawraa had entered into advanced negotiations with him, but he rejected the club's offer at that time and preferred to sign with Al-Shorta due to the financial difference, which the Al-Zawraa fans deemed a betrayal of the club and a lack of loyalty, leading to a rift between the player and the Al-Nawras stands.

In recent weeks, the management of Al-Zawraa Club reopened negotiations with the player, hoping to sign him again to strengthen the attacking line. According to several local media sources, Hussein Ali demanded 400 million Iraqi dinars in exchange for signing, while Al-Zawraa's management offered only 375 million dinars, leading to the player's rejection, who chose to continue his journey with Al-Shorta, which sparked a new wave of discontent among the fans of the white club.

The fans did not remain silent in the face of this decision, and sharp criticisms began to target him via social media, accusing him of not achieving anything noteworthy with Al-Shorta and that he should have returned to his former club to repay the loyalty of Al-Zawraa's fans.

However, Hussein Ali did not remain silent for long and responded to the criticisms in a sarcastic manner, as he posted on the "story" feature of his official Instagram account, stating:

"I have achieved two titles with Al-Shorta... the league and the cup," indicating that his current achievements surpass what he accomplished with Al-Zawraa, which was interpreted as a direct mockery of the fans who were demanding his return.

These responses opened the door to a wide dispute between the player and Al-Zawraa's fans, amid calls from the club's supporters not to consider his return again, deeming his file "closed forever," while others believe that football today is subject to financial and professional calculations, and that what the player did falls within the framework of personal professional decisions.

As this controversy continues, it seems that Hussein Ali will not wear the Al-Zawraa jersey again in the near future, especially given the currently strained relationship with the club's fans and his insistence on staying with Al-Shorta.
