Atletico Madrid Puts Renato Veiga on Their Radar
Spanish newspaper 'AS' revealed that Atletico Madrid has placed Portuguese defender Renato Veiga, a Chelsea player, among their priorities to strengthen the defense for the upcoming season, as the team searches for alternatives after failing to secure Cristian Romero from Tottenham.
The newspaper clarified that Renato Veiga, who is 21 years old, has become a candidate to leave Chelsea this summer for a fee ranging between 30 and 35 million euros, after spending the second half of last season on loan at Juventus.
The player is distinguished by his ability to play as a center-back, in addition to the possibility of playing as a defensive midfielder or left-back, making him an attractive option for Diego Simeone.
Veiga, who graduated from the Sporting Lisbon academy and previously played for Augsburg and Basel, is one of the rising talents in the Portuguese national team, having made his international debut in October 2024 against Poland during the UEFA Nations League, which Portugal later won.
