The Turkish club Galatasaray is seeking to strengthen its defensive line by signing Swiss defender Manuel Akanji, a player from Manchester City, during the current summer transfer window in preparation for the new 2025/2026 season.

Turkish journalist specialized in the transfer market, "Yagiz Sabuncuoglu," revealed via his official account on the "X" platform that Galatasaray has inquired about the terms of signing Akanji, indicating that the club will submit an official offer if the player agrees to reduce his salary.

Manchester City signed Akanji, who is 29 years old, in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Dortmund for £15 million, and he currently has a contract with the English club that runs until the summer of 2027.

It is noted that Galatasaray previously expressed interest in signing Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson from Manchester City this summer as part of its efforts to bolster its squad with big names before the season starts.
