Reasons for Hong Kong Hosting the Saudi Super Cup
A private source denied to the newspaper 'Al-Riyadiyah' any connection between the organization of the Cristiano Ronaldo exhibition currently taking place in Hong Kong and the city's hosting of the upcoming Saudi Super Cup.
The source explained that the exhibition, which opened on July 7, is held under the auspices of the Saudi Tourism Authority and is part of global tours that previously included the Riyadh Season within the Kingdom.
In contrast, the Saudi Super Cup is held under the sponsorship of a Chinese company and local partners in Hong Kong, with no direct relation to the exhibition of the famous Portuguese star.
He pointed out that the tournament was originally scheduled to take place in China, but a government decision was issued to prevent hosting foreign clubs, which prompted the organizers to move the event to Hong Kong as an alternative option.
Al-Nasr Club had planned a tour in China in January 2024, including matches against the teams of Shanghai and Zhejiang, but it was canceled due to circumstances beyond the club's control.
