Liverpool Commemorates Diogo Jota with New Honor
Friday 18-07-2025
Liverpool FC continues to honor its Portuguese star Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away in a car accident in northern Spain on July 3, alongside his brother Andre Silva, in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail", Liverpool has added a special section on its official website to commemorate Jota, where his name is listed in the first team under the title 'Forever', with a link to his profile that includes a heartfelt tribute ending with the phrase 'He will always be our number 20'.

The 28-year-old Portuguese forward had recently married his childhood sweetheart after a successful season with Liverpool and the Portuguese national team, before his departure in the tragic accident.

Following his death, Liverpool announced the retirement of the number 20 jersey at all levels, after consulting with his family, in a move that coach Arne Slot described as the least the club could do to honor Jota's contributions and his career with the team.
