Raja Approaches Finalizing the Deal for Mohsen Bourika, Outperforming the Royal Army
Negotiations have accelerated significantly in recent days regarding the future of Moroccan striker Mohsen Bourika, with Raja Sports Club becoming the closest to signing him, ahead of Royal Army Club, which has also expressed interest in acquiring him.
According to Moroccan media reports, discussions between Raja's management and Swiss club Sion, which holds the player's contract, have made significant progress, with only final details remaining before the official announcement of the deal's completion.
Bourika had previously rejected an offer from Maghreb de Fès to join them on loan, before receiving another offer from an unspecified club that included a signing bonus of $400,000 with a one-season loan, but he ultimately chose Raja Sports Club's project.
Raja's management succeeded in turning the tables during the negotiations by presenting the player with a comprehensive sports project and clear technical guarantees to revive his career, which has notably declined since his transfer to Sion in the summer of 2023, coming from Maghreb de Fès. Bourika is considered one of the graduates of the Nahda Zemamra Academy.
Raja is seeking to strengthen its attacking line in preparation for the upcoming season, at the request of coach Lassaad Jarda Chabi, who aims to sign experienced players to bring the team back to a competitive forefront.
Mohsen Bourika has suffered from limited participation with Sion, managing to score only one goal in 22 matches in the Swiss Super League, which prompted the club's management to open the door for his departure during the ongoing summer transfer window.
