Strict Financial Rules Await Saudi League Clubs in the 2025-2026 Season
Monday 14-07-2025
Reports have announced that the Saudi Professional League Association has approved a new financial regulation, which will officially come into effect starting from the 2025-2026 season, aimed at tightening control over club expenditures and enhancing financial sustainability.

The regulation includes the imposition of a progressive spending cap starting at 80% of total revenues during the first season of implementation, which will decrease to 70% starting from the 2026-2027 season.

A maximum financial deficit of no more than 10 million riyals has also been set as a precautionary measure to ensure financial balance and reduce the risks of unjustified overspending by clubs.

The association has mandated all clubs to submit financial reports biannually, enabling continuous oversight and providing a clear picture of each club's financial performance throughout the season.

The regulation grants the financial oversight committee expanded powers, including the approval or rejection of the issuance of financial competency certificates, which enhances the committee's role in enforcing complete financial discipline.

The new regulation includes all sports teams within the clubs, including youth teams and women's football, as part of supporting transparency and applying governance standards to everyone without exception.
