The Spanish club Barcelona is on the brink of extending the contract of its Dutch star Frenkie de Jong, amid a mutual desire between both parties to continue for a longer period at Camp Nou.

Spanish reports have indicated that Barcelona's management intends to start official talks with de Jong in the coming days, in order to sign a new contract that extends beyond the end of his current deal in the summer of 2026.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed via his official account on the 'X' platform that both Barcelona and the player are eager to reach an agreement soon, while the newspaper 'Sport' revealed that Pini Zahavi may soon take over as de Jong's agent.

De Jong, who is 28 years old, joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from Ajax Amsterdam for 86 million euros, and last season he played 46 matches in various competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
