Barcelona Postpones Return to 1/1 Rule

Radio "RAC1" officially reported today, Friday, that Spanish club Barcelona will not be able to return to work under the 1/1 rule until the beginning of August.

The source added that this delay means the club will not be able to register new players like goalkeeper Joan Garcia at the moment, as it first needs to improve its financial situation and comply with financial fair play regulations.

The financial crisis the Catalan club is experiencing has led to the failure of the deal to sign Nico Williams, the Athletic Bilbao player, after the player requested official guarantees to ensure his registration in the team's roster for the upcoming season.

It is worth noting that the 1/1 rule means the club can spend 1 euro for every 1 euro saved (by selling a player or reducing wages), and thus Barcelona needs to reduce its wage bill and sell some players to return to this rule.
