Real Madrid Reaches Agreement with Benfica for Carreras
Thursday 10-07-2025
Real Madrid has finalized its agreement with Portuguese club Benfica to sign Spanish defender Álvaro Carreras during the current summer transfer window, as part of its efforts to strengthen the squad in preparation for the new season, following the signings of Dean Houson and Alexander Arnold, who participated with the team in the 2025 Club World Cup.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed via his official account on the platform "X" that Real Madrid has reached a verbal agreement with Benfica for Carreras to join the royal club for 50 million euros to be paid in installments, instead of paying the full amount at once as stipulated in the buyout clause.

Romano explained that the deal is awaiting confirmation from Manchester United that they will not activate the player's buy-back clause before Carreras travels to Madrid to finalize the official procedures and sign the contracts.

Real Madrid continues its strong movements in the transfer market to strengthen its roster after the team's participation in the Club World Cup, with expectations of more signings in the upcoming period.

Other press reports indicated that Manchester United is expected to receive 20% of the value of the deal.
