Wydad Secures Abd El Ghafour Lemirat Deal After Rivalry with Raja
Tuesday 08-07-2025
The Moroccan Wydad Athletic Club has succeeded in reinforcing its squad with a new defensive midfielder, after successfully concluding negotiations with Abd El Ghafour Lemirat coming from Olympic Safi, in a deal that extends for three seasons, following a fierce rivalry with its traditional rival Raja Athletic Club during the ongoing summer transfer window.

This signing comes as part of Wydad's plan to rebuild a competitive team after a disappointing season, where neither Wydad nor Raja won any local or continental titles.

The red administration relies on Lemirat to strengthen the team's defensive depth and benefit from his local experience, as part of a project that focuses on blending young and experienced players in the professional league.

Lemirat made a significant presence with Olympic Safi throughout the 2024/2025 season, having played 109 matches in all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting three others, contributing to his team's victory in the Moroccan Throne Cup.

Wydad fans hope that Lemirat will restore some of his former brilliance to the red shirt and contribute to the club's resurgence on both local and continental levels.
