Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is in a state of uncertainty regarding his future with Real Madrid, having lost his starting position to Belgian Thibaut Courtois, despite renewing his contract until 2030 after his remarkable performance last season.

Lunin had taken advantage of Courtois' injury with a cruciate ligament tear during the 2023/2024 season, successfully securing a starting position and outperforming Kepa, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid's Champions League victory, especially with his outstanding performance in penalty shootouts against Manchester City in the semifinals.

This impressive performance led the royal club to renew his contract until 2030, after he had played 31 matches in all competitions at that time.

However, Courtois' return to full fitness this season has relegated Lunin back to the bench, where he has only participated in 14 matches across all competitions, most of them in Courtois' absence due to injury. Additionally, the Ukrainian goalkeeper has lost his starting position with his national team to Anatoliy Trubin, following his mistakes in the opening match of Euro 2024 against Romania.

According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", Lunin's future with Real Madrid is open to all possibilities, as a departure is not ruled out if a suitable offer that satisfies both the club and the player arises, given that Courtois is expected to remain the starter until 2028 after his anticipated contract renewal.
