The Future Crisis of Onahi.. Marseille Threatens Him with the Reserve Team After Rejecting a Russian Offer
Monday 07-07-2025
The Moroccan international Azzedine Onahi is facing significant pressure within the French club Marseille, as the resolution of his future during the current summer transfer window remains uncertain.

After his remarkable performance during his loan to Greek club Panathinaikos, where he played 36 matches, scored 6 goals, and provided 5 assists, his market value has notably increased, prompting the French club to seek to capitalize on his contract instead of relying on him for the upcoming season.

According to French media reports, Marseille's sports management, led by Moroccan Mehdi Benatia, has threatened Onahi with demotion to the reserve team if he does not agree to transfer to Russian club Spartak Moscow, which made an offer of 12 million euros along with an attractive salary.

However, Onahi rejected the offer due to the Russian-Ukrainian war and the absence of Russian clubs from European competitions, creating a tense situation within the club's corridors.

Meanwhile, Benatia is trying to reach a compromise that satisfies all parties and avoids any new clashes for the club, especially with the management's strict decision to include Onahi and five other players in the reserve team training until their future destinations are determined.
