Tebas Attacks the Club World Cup
Sunday 06-07-2025
Javier Tebas, the president of the Spanish League, has sharply criticized the Club World Cup, strongly opposing it due to the damage it causes to local competitions, players, and the financial system of football.

Tebas stated in his remarks: "What is happening in the Club World Cup is a real farce; players and local competitions are against it, the schedules are shattered, and the ecosystem of professional football is severely harmed, affecting hundreds of thousands of employees."

Tebas added, pointing to the significant collapse in ticket prices and the lack of financial returns: "Everything that can be said about TV revenues and sponsorships has already been said; some are forced to attend against their will, and on top of that, ticket prices are collapsing in an attempt to fill the stadiums, while tax issues arise for both players and clubs."

The La Liga president concluded his remarks with a sarcastic message: "Could it have been done any worse? Yet, there are those who continue to sell the illusion that this tournament is a resounding success and the future of football; may God save us from these enlightened ones, please."
