Officially.. Juventus announces the signing of Jonathan David
The Italian club Juventus officially announced today, Friday, via its official website, the signing of Canadian striker Jonathan David on a free transfer.
The striker, born in 2000, signed a 5-year contract with "La Vecchia Signora," until June 30, 2030.
The club stated: "David was born in Brooklyn, USA, to parents from Haiti, before moving to Ottawa, Canada, where he began his football career with Ottawa Gloucester and Ottawa Internationals, before heading to Europe at the age of 17."
It added: "David joined Gent in Belgium and scored a goal in his first appearance for the team in August 2018, before finishing his first two seasons with 83 matches, scoring 37 goals and providing 15 assists, and was crowned the top scorer of the Belgian league in the 2019/2020 season."
Furthermore, it stated: "The player moved to Lille in the summer of 2020, where he played for the past five seasons, scoring 87 goals in 178 league matches, and a total of 109 goals and 30 assists in 232 matches with the French club, with which he won the French league title in the 2020/2021 season and the French Super Cup the following season."
Finally, it concluded: "David made his first appearance with the Canadian national team in September 2018, scoring two goals in his debut, and has so far played 66 matches and scored 35 goals, after also wearing the youth national team jersey."
