In a global achievement credited to Iraqi football, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) announced that the forward of Al-Shorta Club, Mohannad Ali "Mimi", topped the list of world scorers for 2025 with a total of 22 goals, surpassing French star Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid by just one goal, who came in second with 21 goals, tied with Swedish striker Viktor Gekas of Sporting Lisbon, while English player Ivan Toney, striker of Al-Ahli Saudi Club, ranked fourth with 20 goals.

This achievement is a crowning of an exceptional season that the Iraqi star presented while wearing the Al-Shorta jersey, as he significantly contributed to leading the team to win the Iraqi league title for the fourth consecutive time and was a cornerstone in the attack of the Green Lyre.

Despite the strong competition with major stars from Europe and the world, Mohannad Ali proved his worth thanks to a high scoring rate and consistency in performance throughout the season, which earned him this international recognition from one of the leading authorities in football statistics.
