Aston Villa FC announced on its official website the departure of its Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in a permanent transfer deal.

The club stated in an official statement: "Aston Villa confirms that Philippe Coutinho has completed his permanent transfer to Vasco da Gama."

The player spent last season on loan at the Brazilian club and returned after his loan period ended, before both clubs reached an agreement to finalize his transfer to his hometown club.

The statement added: "Coutinho initially joined Aston Villa on loan in January 2022, before signing a permanent contract later. During his time with the team, he made 43 appearances and scored 6 goals for the club."

The club concluded its message by thanking the Brazilian star, saying: "All members of Aston Villa would like to thank Philippe Coutinho for all he has contributed to the team, and wish him all the best in his future career."
