Reports have indicated that Barcelona has decided to turn to alternative options following the failed contract with Nico Williams, the star of Athletic Bilbao, due to difficulties related to registration and financial regulations.

Athletic Bilbao announced this Friday morning the renewal of the Spanish star's contract until the summer of 2035.

Journalist Ashraf Ben Ayad mentioned that the sports management at the Catalan club had previously put in place contingency plans in anticipation of this scenario, and they are now in the process of activating them to strengthen the team ahead of the new season.

It is noteworthy that Barcelona faced obstacles related to financial fair play, which complicated the deal despite the club's willingness to pay the player's buyout clause.

It is worth mentioning that Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Rafael Leao of Milan are among Barcelona's targets to strengthen the left-wing position.
