Transfer of Nico Williams to Barcelona Officially Fails
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed via his official account on the social media platform 'X' that the transfer deal of Nico Williams to Barcelona has officially collapsed, after the Catalan club failed to reassure the player about his registration in the team's roster upon his joining.
Romano explained that Barcelona had reached an agreement with Nico Williams on all details, but registration issues prevented the completion of the deal, prompting the player to reconsider the move to Barcelona and remain with Athletic Bilbao.
The Basque club announced moments ago the renewal of Williams' contract until June 2035, with a new contract that includes a buyout clause higher by more than 50% than the previous one, which was 58 million euros, in addition to an increase in his salary, confirming his continuation with the team he described as his home.
Thus, Barcelona closes the door on signing Nico Williams this summer, while Athletic Bilbao holds on to their young star and continues its ambitious sports project.
