Liverpool FC has mourned its Portuguese player Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away this Thursday morning at the age of 28 in a horrific car accident in Spain, which also resulted in the death of his brother Andre Silva.

Spanish police announced that the accident occurred in the province of Zamora, where Jota's car veered off the road and caught fire, confirming that no other vehicles were involved.

Liverpool stated in an official statement: "We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Diogo Jota, who lost his life in a car accident in Spain alongside his brother Andre. We will not be making any further comments at this time and ask for respect for the privacy of his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time, and we will continue to provide our full support to them."

Jota's death comes just days after he married his girlfriend Ruth Cardoso on June 22, and he was enjoying his summer vacation in Spain before the tragic incident.
