Manchester United Intensifies Interest in Watkins
Thursday 03-07-2025
The British newspaper "The Mirror" revealed this morning that Manchester United has decided to intensify its interest in signing Ollie Watkins, the Aston Villa striker, during the summer transfer window, amid stalled negotiations to acquire other forwards.

The newspaper clarified that Manchester United's management has turned its attention to the English international after failing in its attempts to sign Viktor Gyökeres, the Sporting Lisbon striker, and Bryan Mbeumo, the Brentford star.

It was noted that Watkins, who had an impressive season with Aston Villa in the Premier League, is open to taking on a new challenge, which enhances his chances of moving to Old Trafford.

Despite the player's and the English club's desire, the high financial demands from Aston Villa remain the biggest obstacle to the deal, as the club values its player at around £60 million, a figure that may be difficult for Manchester United to meet given the financial fair play restrictions.

It is worth mentioning that Ollie Watkins, who is 29 years old, is considered one of the top English forwards at the moment and has recently secured a spot in the England national team, increasing his appeal to major clubs in Europe.
