Despite the interest from the German giant in signing him, a report published by "Sky Sports" confirmed that Mitoma has informed Brighton's management of his desire to remain with the club and extend his current contract, which ends in June 2027. The report also indicated that Brighton's management is keen on keeping the player and considers him a key pillar of the team.

Mitoma is 28 years old and plays as a left-wing forward. He has participated in 108 matches for Brighton across all competitions, scoring 24 goals and assisting 20 others. He has also played internationally for Japan in 27 matches, scoring 8 goals.

The Japanese star previously played with Kawasaki Frontale in his home country, where he won league, cup, and Japanese super titles before embarking on his successful journey in England.
