Emergency Meeting at Inter Milan After Lautaro and Hakan Calhanoglu Crisis
Wednesday 02-07-2025
Reports have revealed new developments within the Italian club Inter Milan, following the crisis that erupted after the team's exit from the 2025 World Club Cup, currently taking place in the United States.

Inter had been eliminated from the tournament in the Round of 16 after losing to Brazilian team Fluminense with a score of 2-0, which sparked controversy within the team, especially after the statements made by team captain Lautaro Martinez, who urged players to show a genuine desire to stay and defend the club's colors, hinting at the need for those who do not wish to continue to leave.

Club president Beppe Marotta indicated that Lautaro's comments were directed at player Hakan Calhanoglu, who has recently been linked with a transfer to Turkish club Galatasaray. In response, the Turkish player expressed his sadness over those comments, clarifying that his absence from matches was due to injury.

According to the website "Football Italy", coach Cristian Chivu held an emergency meeting with the players before their return from the United States, emphasizing the importance of unity and working together in preparation for the new season, while Calhanoglu was absent from the meeting after returning to Europe with several injured players just hours before the match against Fluminense.
