Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia has etched its name in bold letters in the history of world football after inflicting a rare defeat on Spaniard Pep Guardiola and Manchester City with a score of 4-3 during the thrilling encounter that took place early Tuesday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, in the Round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Al-Hilal triumphed with a score of 4-3 over the star-studded City team, achieving a historic victory for Saudi, Arab, and Asian football, and reaching the quarter-finals of the global tournament, where they will meet Brazil's Fluminense next Friday.

This defeat is one of only 12 matches in Guardiola's coaching career in which he has conceded four goals, since he began his first-team career with Barcelona in the summer of 2008. Al-Hilal thus joins the elite list of European teams that have achieved this feat, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and others.

These defeats have been distributed throughout his tenures with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, where the Spanish coach has suffered eight losses by four goals specifically with City, before Al-Hilal added the latest four-goal defeat in the Club World Cup.

It is worth noting that Guardiola, who is 54 years old, has managed 941 matches in his coaching career, achieving 686 victories and winning 39 titles, while suffering only 125 losses, nearly half of which were in league competitions, four of them in the UEFA Champions League, and a historic new loss at the hands of Al-Hilal in America.
