Italian media reports have revealed a strong desire from AS Roma to regain the services of Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez, the star of Al Ahly Saudi, during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Ibanez is considered one of the key pillars of the "Royal" team, having had an outstanding season since joining in the summer of 2023, and he has significantly contributed to the team's crowning as the champion of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League.

According to the newspaper "Corriere dello Sport", the new coach of AS Roma, Gian Piero Gasperini, has placed Ibanez at the top of his defensive priorities, due to his confidence in the player's abilities from their previous time together at Atalanta.

The Brazilian defender, who previously wore the Roma jersey between 2020 and 2023, is not opposed to returning to the "Wolves", especially after receiving an attractive offer from the Italian club to rejoin this summer.

Ibanez has extensive experience in Serie A, having started his career with Atalanta in 2019, before being loaned to Roma, and then joining permanently later, which makes the idea of a return appealing to both him and Gasperini.

On its part, Al Ahly's management is striving to maintain the stability of the team and its core, especially in preparation for participation in the Roshan League, the King’s Cup, and the upcoming Asian Championship, which makes the prospect of Ibanez's departure a matter of concern.

It is worth mentioning that Roger Ibanez has played 46 matches with Al Ahly across all competitions, scoring 7 goals and assisting 4, reflecting his clear impact on the backline and the team's offensive contribution.
